Haven House

Haven House is a very special place here on the South Kenai Peninsula. Many lives are saved in this humble little clapboard building. Many lives are indeed begun anew. From personal experience (hey, all art is personal, right?) I have been impressed by the casual yet passionate way with which Peg Tileman (the former executive director featured here) and staff deal with domestic violence across all walks of life. Walk in these doors and you feel safe, you feel comfortable, you feel R.E.S.P.E.C.T. I shot this video over a period of several months, really just a fly on the wall so to speak, trying to capture the pervasive feeling of hope that Peg and others try to instill through both the protection and healing process. Both staff and clients were generous with their time and supportive of this project.  My sincere thanks.
